I've been trying to work on my grading of U.S coins, other then Morgans. I put this one at VF20, what do you guys think?
It looks like corrosion on the reverse.:bigeyes: Otherwise I would grade it as a VF. But if that is corrosion that would hurt it.
I have no problems with the VF opinion. But the boys at the TPGs might have heartburn over the dark toning. They are often of the the opinion that something may be hidden. I had an 1894 Morgan body bagged for that reason. The couldn't see anything wrong BUT they also couldn't see the surfaces. So, no opinion.
