I just noticed this chihuahua 20 peso has an extra obverse seal printed over the left portrait. I Spent 30 minutes or so trying to find another online or any info on this, with no luck. Does anybody have a reference #, or care to opine or estimate the value?? a pretty low grade, say VG or VG+? but apparently pretty rare. would this be a variety or an error? It is for sale ! thank you in advance !! dc
It appears to be PS-537b from Estados de Chihuahua Series K. The 10 & 20 from this series had inverted seal versions & they all had reverse seals of different colours, according to the BNM. Colour seals look tough & desirable. As you wrote, there's appears to be no info on a front (obverse seals) with date on front. Not sure what the value would be (to the right buyer). Errors (like special #) are usually wanted in VF or better condition. Note looks Good condition with heavy soiling, multiple tears and stains.
Yes, as I look again it looks like the entire Overprinting of Reverse seal, date, and control# were mistakenly printed on the Front as well as the Back.... So we havwe an ERROR. If you ever come across a listing for one of these (or a similar Mexico Chihuahua note of any denomination) in an auction or catalogue please let me know! and than you for the reply! my best, dc
