1914-D cent

    Hey guys....just saw this 1914-D cent end on ebay. What do you think of it??

    Looks okay to me. The space between the 1 & 4 seems about right.

    I don't like the mintmark....Looks...wrong....

    The D should be lower and to the left, and smaller in my opinion.

    The mint mark might be in the right place, but it looks too big and wide (wrong shape). And that corroded splotch is too coincidental. I wouldn't touch it.

    Added mintmark---The size is what kicks it off for me.

    Ya'll may be onto something with the mintmark. I was concentrating on the date and totally missed the MM. Here is a real one for comparison.

    I agree with the consensus that it is a genuine 1914 with an added "D" mintmark. I saw this on ebay as it was ending, and was immediately turned off.

    whenever i see detritus around the mint mark I always assume the worst unless its got a TPG

    probably added mintmark, notice how convenient that crud is on the mintmark?
