Hello everyone. I own the pictured 1914 dime and I was wondering if any of you could help with its grade. It has nice details (IMO) but the color is darker and the is a blemish on the back at the 3:00 position. Thanks! Screenshot_2014-02-28-21-17-53.png Screenshot_2014-02-28-21-18-46.png

I suggest that you invest in a copy of The Official American Numismatic Association Grading Standards for United States Coins and a copy of Photograde. These two grading books will serve you well. The Red Book has criteria for each grade at the beginning of each series which is helpful.

The dark spot on the left side of the reverse won't have much effect on the value of this dime. If what looks like a scratch across the obverse is on the coin that will. If it is not then you're okay.

Thanks for the reply, Ed! I'll look into those books. That's actually a hair, not a scratch. Do you have any thoughts on the coin's grade?
