Howdy fellow coin peeps, :thumb: I just got a pile of large cents and Indianhead/Lincolns in and was double checking the Lincolns for possible mint marks, using my $1.00 magnifying glass I got from Wally World, and noticed something interesting on a 1913-D. The date is fully doubled and so is the mint mark and there is very slight doubling on the top of LIBERTY. I have no clue how common this is for this date so I figured I'd post it and we could discuss it. Ribbit Ps: It always pays to look at a coin closeup for possible errors. You'll never know what's hidden right under your nose if you don't take a closer peek at it. :kewl: Pps: There also appers there's some doubling going down with IN GOD WE TRUST.
The interesting thing I see is the doubling isn't even. The 9 is more doubled that anything else. I'd understand an outside number being more profoundly doubled but how does it occur to one of the inside numbers? How is that possible? Ribbit
I agree, looks like machine doubling, but still pretty neat on an older Lincoln. Judging by the obverse, is it VF-25-30ish? Phoenix
Very nice coin, I'd still put it at a 25 or a 30, has a slightly weak reverse, but not too bad. Nice coin! :thumb: Phoenix
I don't collect Lincolns so I'm not up on grading them but I do get a few in "lots" of coins I get off Ebay. I've got a few more coming in later next week and I am hoping one of them is a 1909-S and it would be awesome if there was three little initials on the reverse. Ribbit
