I just won this for $6, and price guide says it is well over a $100.00 in G-4. Why did the auction go so low? What does it mean by restored? And being restored can't hurt the value by THAT much.. can it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=290220419032&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=019
You might be able to find somebody who will pay a little bit more then what you did to fill the whole in their album, but I doubt it. "Acid dates" as a rule are essentially worthless. Sorry for the bad news.
probably about 5-10 dollars. The coin was most likely a po-1 or fr-2 and was then restored. Even 18/17-d buffalos that have been acid treated can be had for a fraction of the price.
Ryan, Might I suggest buying some books---you will save yourself a ton of money in the long run! A Buff Nickel that has been restored is normally worth the same as a dateless nickel unless it is a rare date. Most dateless nickels sell for less than $1. If you are happy with the coin then way to go! Just remember to buy because you like it....not because what the price guide said. In most cases those guides are way off anyway. Speedy
Well, I don't collect Buffalo's. But since it was so cheap, I bid (and won) and was planning on reselling it. But I guess it isn't worth as much.....
