This post from a recent thread made me pull out my 1911 NGC AU53 and look. Maybe it's like looking at a dead body and if you stare long enough it will move........but in the right light at the right angle I swear I see a hint of a mint mark. Maybe I'm seeing things. I've tried to photograph it to no avail.

I've read about diagnostics and have read about a wire rim(slabbed so I can't see squat), a scalloped edge at 12:00 which I have potential but the grade is such that it looks worn down, and a die polish line in the recess of the reverse arrow.

Can anyone post a good pic of this die polish line? The PCGS photo on their site is horrible to help me identify it. Thanks in advance.

I have never been able to find the polish line. I have had a few 1911-D with the raised edge, and one without, which seems odd to me. I know what you mean about seeing things though, I literally have about 30 1911 coins set aside because I keep thinking they "might" have a D. Two I have had I could easily see the D. The third that graded the best had to be submitted twice for them to agree with me.
