    Hi, everyone --

I saw this on Numismaster today: http://numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=9813

How exciting if this is saying what I'm reading -- that we may have a future "key date" in the making.... :hatch:

I recall when I first started in the hobby in the early 1990s, I could have bought a 1909-S or 1931-S for under $50 each also and look at what has happened to those coins since(!)

I just wanted to pass this along to the forum.

One thing you may want to take notice of, the author of that article, Paul Green, has been dead for about 4 years now. Paul Green was a wonderful and very prolific numismatic writer, Numismatic News continues to publish his articles over and over again.

There is is nothing wrong with that, I admire it. But you should know that the info contained in them is always a bit dated.

    Hello, GDJ --

Thanks for the information about Green; I actually wasn't aware of his passing.

Still, I did find the commentary interesting, as -- like so many of us -- I'm completing a Lincoln cent collection and have seen the price of the 1911-S steadily rise in the last few years. Will the value plateau now since the 2009 Bicentennial series is becoming old news, none of us know. Regardless, maybe Green made a good point...

If you haven't ever noticed, articles like the one you refer to are often the reason.

Much to the dismay of many! I wish they hadn't promoted the 1909-S VDB so much...

The 11-S has gone up in price over the years and may eventually get to over $50 in G but that is years and years away.
