1911 mystery coin..

    The only text on this coin is the date.. anybody know what it is?

    Nice coin....I first thought it to be a Russian coin but Ardatirion is right.

    Back then there were a few countries that did not put their names on coins. Now there is only one. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Queen's profile and title is enough.

    I remember as a budding collector getting one of these Austrian 2 Heller coins and thinking it might be Russian. BTW there are also Hungarian 2 filler coins from the same era, but they have the Crown of St. Stephen.

    If you focus on circulation coins (and the piece shown in the initial post is one), there are a few more. Austria and Germany for example. :)

    That's why I asked you guys.. I'm just getting back into collecting and the majority of my collection is US coinage.. but I do find the world coins amazing,.. just daunting to get into.

    So any other opinions on what it's worth?
