I picked this up as a cheap 1910s. When I looked through the loupe it seemed to have a little something extra. It had a little dirt so I used the mineral oil, rose thorn, xylene to loosen the dirt up. It appears to be the 1910s-1mm-001 except for the die crack on the Rev. Would a die crack be considered a marker? And if so could this possibly be a new RPM? As always I appreciate any help and info. from the field.
I would say it's an Rpm the other Rpm is visable going north west.Die ctacks can be considered a marker. Frankie Boy
It seems like it is an RPM and indeed RPM-001, probably STAGE C, which says, "Die crack lower Left wheat to rim." Nice find!
:thumb:Thanks for what so far seems to be good news. So for the $19 I spent I assume I made out nicely?
Nice find. I'm also interested in hearing more about how you got that dirt off. I've got some that I would love to clean away the dirt around the mint mark in order to spot rpms, but since the concensus seems to be never clean a coin, I've always shied away from it.
i would say you got a ood deal the coin looks lke it's in EF -40 not bad at all for that date. Congrates Frankie boy from brooklyn NY baby
I will say to NEVER clean a coin. What I do and I believe the court will agree is to soak the coin for an hour or two in mineral oil. Using a "GREEN !!" rose thorn, as to not scratch coin, very lightly remove the dirt away from numbers, letters, etc.. Once you have achieved the majority of the debris removed I will use xylene to remove the mineral oil residue. I'm sure some may not agree but it seems to work quite well for me.
Please explain what a R9 is. I still don't use a cherry picker I'm using Lincoln Cent Resource and Charles's sight CC.
