Once again bad photo, but, I can draw a picture of what you can't see in photo. I have this 1910 S with raised lettering starting at the top of the S and in the loops of the dominate S there is also raised surface but in the shape of a snake going from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock. Picture 569.jpg Picture 570.jpg undetermined value?

Sara the little sharp looking place on top of the S appears to be a tiny die chip . the rest may be mechanical doubling which doesn't add any value. but don't take what I say to heart because it is hard to tell what a coin is just from photos unless it is a larger size error and easier to see.

That's true, circulated and worn coins are tough to distinguish errors from nicks, scrapes and bumps. BU coins are so much easier to determine errors. I'll keep on lookin' and keep on trying! I'll find em'. They're out there! Thanks!

Mechanical doubling is a shelving around the feature in relief. This one has an incuse "ghosting" around the left and bottom. it is diagnostic for die wear. There is no evidence of mechanical doubling.

Sara I have a good true story for you that shows how quick the prices go up on error and variety coins. back in 72 or 73 I bought a big group of these lesser types of the 72 doubled dies that looked to be the same die # as your coin. I paid B. Weinberg around 50 cents each for them . sometime around 2007 I sold most of them on Ebay for around 40 to 45 dollars each. I thought the Ebay buyers were crazy for paying me this much. all of my coins were in mint condition and the last time I saw one sell on Ebay it went for over 100.00 Your coin looks like it is mint condition from what I can see in your photo.

They are hard to get, I paid $77 w/ship for this one, it has good double on it. The one I want sales for over $600, I'm saving to buy one. Or hope to find one. If I buy one, I'm going to make sure it's a PCGS graded one. Mines has it's issues, maybe a MS 63 Picture 417.jpg Picture 419.jpg
