Sorry about the picture quality and vague descriptions. I really don't know much about what I'm doing... coins or forums. It's a combo pic. The first coin appears to be a 1910 $20 Liberty gold coin with a "D" stamp (the mint I guess). The other coin is a 1986 (took me a while to figure out those funky letters!) $5 gold coin.

Both are worth melt value. The $20 is only worth melt because it has been made into a piece of jewelry. The $5 is only worth melt because it is a common modern bullion coin.

I can remove the casing from the coin in no time. It's simply tightened around it. No holes or soldering was done to it. That being said... any hope for a better opinion now?

When you remove the bezel from your coin, you'll find that it has damaged the edge. If the coin has been worn as jewelry, it will show a lot of wear. It's shiny, yes, but it is still very worn.
