Hi Cointalkers, I have been having so much fun on the Lincoln Cent Resource Forum that I haven't had time to do much of anything else. Besides learning so much about Lincoln, their errors and varieties, I have been privileged to have discovered many new dies for listing with various coin experts forums and books. Lately I have enjoyed the chance to upgrade my wheat cent collection when the right coin comes along. A couple days ago I was able to purchase from my buddy, AJ , a super nice 1909S VDB, which is the final coin I need to complete my Lincoln Wheat Cent Album! As promised I am posting pics of the lovely addition to my hoard! Thank you all, jeankay
Surprized you not on the www.coppercoins.com web site. That guy Chuck there has two books out on just Lincoln Cents. Also, he is an artist and has sold paintings of lincoln. There you could find out lots and lots about that coin. Now, since I'm a slab hater, you should break that coin out and put it in an album. What I do is tape that little thing from the slab on the inside cover so it doesn't get lost. I use those sticky paper things so no glue is on that little tag. Just can't see a coin in a plastic slab. Do your also have the 55 Double Die, 72 Double Die, 22 Plain and all the rest of those odd ball ones they keep putting in albums? In those books on Lincolns, by coppercoinsk, there is almost a double die every year. Also, he lists so many RPM's it make me dizzy.
Hi Carl, I am a member of the Coppercoins, PCGS, Coneca, Coinpeople, Cointalk and The Lincoln Cent Resource forums. Problem is, I cannot seem to manage enough time to get to all of them, and chose LCR because of its focusing on Lincolns. Since I started at LCR I have learned so much more about Lincoln errors and varieties and other aspects of coin collecting. Yes, I actually did find my 22 Plain a few months ago. Arizona Jack was the one who verified it in my post here on Cointalk, as did Jack Beymer at the coin store, and then AJ sent it onto PCGS for final authentication, certification, and grading. With high end coins I believe it is better for the experts to do the final steps. I will not break certain coins out of slabs, including the coin I just posted. However, with that said, I have busted out my share of coins for my album so I can show them off. Those coins have backup slabs in the safe. The LCR forum allows me to be in touch almost daily with Chuck, Bob, Billy, BJ, and many other pros who have been exceptionally helpful in teaching all of us about varieties, and giving us a chance to be contributors to their sites. All of the CT'ers have been very helpful and supportive and I don't mean to slight anyone. Sometimes one needs to be where the copper mines are in order to learn and participate more fully in the process. Thanks bunches Carl! Jean
You betcha PennyGuy! Upgrading as we speak. Just this morning 29D, 25S, 21, 19 all to AU... some look better than that to me. My 27P and 29P are now MS64 RB, my 10P is MS63BN, my 31S is AU55 PCGS, my 14D is VG8 BN (one to work toward a higher grade), and the 22 No D is XF40 Strong Reverse. This is all in about three years since I began collecting coins. Not bad for a newbie. Thanks again! Jean
Absolutely green! I know I can always trust him when it comes to the quality of the coins I have bought, and will continue to buy, from him. He has always been a good coin buddy just like many others here at CT. jeankay
You and me too, RLM. But I guess PCGS decided that is it. The other coins I received today will likely prove to be a little higher grade too. jeankay
It poses a certain satisfaction to be able to help you close out that set, you have been working on it a cpl years now. Congrats Jean, I am very honored to have been a part of it.
Thank You AJ! Thing is, you aren't done yet. There are bound to be more upgrades coming along that I will want to snatch up. Have a great weekend! jeankay
