1909 VDB help

    I_Love_Silver I love U.S. coinage

    My Father gave me 2 1909's today and one is a 1909 V.D.B. but on the front of the coin there is a mark just above the date to the left by Pres. Lincoln's tie. I looked very close (30X jewelers loupe) and it would seem to be actually part of the penny itself? You judge-

    OK Thank you. I was just curious if it was maybe a known flaw or what? The coin is over 100 years old and so the wear on the pmd is almost as even as the rest of the coin so it fooled me. That's why I asked.
