I was going through my old albums looking for varieties...I checked this 1909 VDB Lincoln, and it has an extra 1 just in front of 1909. I can't find it listed as a DDO anywhere online. Can anyone help?

At first glance, looks like die deterioration doubling again... no premium... search for that phrase and you will find a fairly recent post discussing it with a great link to articles and examples on the subject...

    Just my opinion...

Thanks, that would make sense. Why else would only the 1 show up otherwise?

well, from the picture i see similar 'shadowing' on the 9 too, but i still think it fits the description of ddd....

Definitely isn't the major 1909 DDO FS-1101. I don't think it's the minor DDO of the year, FS-1102 either. There should also be doubling present on the word "LIBERTY" on each example too if it's a DDO.
