I've been digging around in the penny collection and found this one. What do you feel would be an appropriate grade?

    Thank you!

I'd say about AU-55, but I'm not to hot on the grading thing and all.

Nice coin! I've been looking for one of these for a while. I would say that it looks XF-40 according to PCGS Photograde. It also looks cleaned to me and there is a rim ding at about 1:00 on the obverse of the coin. With all that being said it would probably be around a VF grade so according to Greysheet about $560.00. Very nice coin though, I wish I had one of those lying around!!

Dang! You've been on fire! Besides the fake 16-D, you've managed to score quite a few raw keys! (Nice coin btw)

Honestly I can't say that I'm on fire. The credit belongs to my Great grandfather mostly. I think I've narrowed down the reason as to why there a few excellent gems and a ton of common date morgan dollars in his sets. My grandfather seems to have bought on to one of the "coin investment" companies in the 80s that bought up hoards of morgan dollars and sent them out every month, overvalued the heck out of them, and charged their customers who paid on the balance every month. The morgans are still in their original flips which had the price on them. Example: "Morgan Silver Dollar (1883 date) MS63 Priced at $212" and this was the early 80s. The really nice, rare ones were clearly put aside or preserved, which upon talking with my parents, seems to be the work of my great grandfather.
