When I bought these, I didn't think that they were of the same artist, same shop, in different cases, Same lighting and settings on the camera. Spent a few pretty penny's for them. Thoughts?
Dunno, Something seems different between the Obv of 0006 & 0008, but just not sure. 0006 seems less refined in certain places, but that could be a function of the Strike and coloration. Also there is a difference in size (pixels) which could be influencing the comparison. I need to look at them in the light of the day when my brain is less foggy and get a chance to run the images through a couple of programs to try and tweak out the similarities and/or differences (if any). Any other takers??? Semper Fidelis
Forget, what I was saying, shouldn't have posted after that many long necks. My cousin brought over an eight pack of Guinness draught, and they went down like water. There are some things with the first 09' that made me suspicious, as to an altered surface, the reverse just doesn't seem to fit! I will have to look at them a little closer. Call it an impaired judgement.
Regardless of the reasons for the "foggy" brains, I'm still wanting to take a closer look at the 0006 coin as there did appear to be something off about it; at least at 12:41AM. Hope there's no jack hammers banging around inside your skull this morning.
Nice coins. I don't see anything to be concerned about. I usually pick up the like for less than $10 each.
I was questioning the way that the wood grain looked on the rims, After further inspection the rims are sharp, and I was only over thinking, The purple one made it into the Wayte Raymond.
While the question has obviously been answered, I didn't want you to think that I forgot you; old age just makes me slower. At any rate, I brought your 2 images into my new photo package; did some adjustments; placed markers on both, then overlaid image 2 on one and WOW! They didn't line up! (See Comparison!) BUT, I kept looking at it and started changing the opaqueness back and forth and noted that the diameters (especially horizontal) were markedly different. Then I remembered that I had noticed that the H and W of the original images were different so I resized one image to match the other, and OOPs, distorted its Width. So back to the drawing board and a more systematic approach. Brought them both in to the program as is; changed the color to B&W and did an identical HiPass Sharpening to jack up the contrast. I then took those images over to a CAD program and took some measurements (relative not actual): distances between bottom left of "L" in LIBERTY and the bottom of the "Y", as well as the distance from the bottom of the "Y" to the bottom tip of the last "9" in 1909 . . . the distances were identical to the 100th. Back to the photo program and zoomed to the point of pixilation so I could place markers as precisely as possible; made an overlay of image 2 and placed it over image one . . . the verdict as can be seen in Comparison 2 (ignore the marker on the front of the vest) is that they both came from the same Obverse Master Hub (unless someone was an absolutely terrific forger), but then you all already knew that. Comparison1 image actually is displayed below Comparison2; sorry, first time attaching photos and I guess I should have uploaded them in Reverse order. Oh well, its the thought that counts (I hope). Semper Fidelis
So while you are all comparing your consumption of a specific beverage, I assume everyone is in agreement that both Lincoln's are identical but the beverage will effect each person differently.
