I was reading about different errors and varieties and came across a bunch of Indian head dates that had repunched "dates". I have only a few Indian head pennies but I figured I'd look through a few to see if I had any of those. I dont think I do as most of mine are worn to crud. However, I did run across this one below that I always assumed was some sort of MD. Looking at the examples of the dates that were repunched, they look very similar. This specific date does NOT have one listed but I figured I would post it for opinions anyway. Could this be a repunched date??? There are no signs of doubling anywhere else o the coin....just this weirdness on the bottom of the 4 numbers. Unrelated, I love these Indian heads...beautiful coins.
Doesn't look like doubling to me,I see what you are referring to tho. It may be just deterioration of the die or simple wear and tear from years of circulation
That is what Im thinking too but Im just not real good with all this...figured it cant hurt to throw some pictures up.
I didnt even notice that(go figure lol). Bag mark? Is that just coins bouncing off others in the bag? Sorry for such elementary description on my behalf. I mean, I guess ..."bag mark"....no lol....nevermind.
Yes, bag/contact mark. EDIT: Just to clarify, I have no idea about your coin and am not referring to it.
