    Hello,
Today at the coin store found this guy laying around for 3.50 look AU to me so I upgraded my other 1908 to this one. What do you think whats the grade and did I get a good deal?
    Thanks:)

uh looks like it was damaged/covered with stuff and then cleaned. or maybe there was dark toning and then it was cleaned. it does however have au details.

Looks to have XF details to me. Harshly cleaned at some point and retoned. Personally, I would prefer a lower graded problem-free example.

Looks like it has something on it and that was why it was so cheap.

I go with XF details as well. Strong LIBERTY/headband, but not all the diamonds are visible. Also, Liberty looks like she has cat whiskers, and the color is a little off.

Since this is a more common date, grading standards are more strict. I would say EF details at best. The hair-curls above the ear and below the ribbon are worn flat, which to me says high VF or low EX. Do you have a picture of the reverse?

I agree. I would stay away from this coin. Avoid problem coins at all costs.

  10. Sorry, but you didn't get a steal. You can easily get a problem free 1908 IHC around VF-20 for a buck if you look around.
