Here is something that I have found in this lot. There are alot of errors coins in here so I will be posting as time permits. This one is interesting. The reverse looks pretty normal. Acid?

It looks like it is either counterfeit, or damaged in a fire.

Maybe an attempt to free it from a shouldered jewellery piece?

its not a casting, or at least I dont think it is. The more I look at it I think GX has something here. The area that looks weird also has a blackish cast to it. Like heat has been applied. Maybe somebody did have this in a necklace or ring or something at one time. I am adding a scan of the back for your viewing pleasures! Wow looking at the back, it dont look all that normal in sunlite and scanned. Has to be some type of heat.

In my opinion it is a contemporary cast counterfeit. The holes/pits on the reverse almost certainly confirm this.

Looks like a counterfeit to me, too. If so, much more interesting than just a slick quarter.
