I am interested in knowing the value of my 1906s Philippine Peso.
My wife is from the Philippines and because of my travels there became interested in the US Minted Pesos. I have had 100's of pesos but this is the nicest one I have ever had.
If you have some ideas of the value, I would appreciate your input. I want to know so I can price it fairly when I sell it.

Nice looking coin, I'd say at least $100.

Very nice piece. I see no wear on the high points of the reverse (which has a beautiful strike as well!). Would you be able to get a clear picture of the eagle's breast? From what I see, the piece is definately uncirculated. As far as MS-6-something, I don't know - no one ever really set down such precise grading standards for these pieces. I would certainly agree that the value of this is more than $100!

If you wish to have this graded and authenticated (don't worry, I'm almost sure its genuine), then be sure to note that all major grading companies accept these and that you can submit it in either the US or the World section! I would go for World myself, as the company is more likely to have an expert grader on this type in the World section.

    Thanks for your input

Thanks much for all your input about my coin. I took a chance on thiscoin without thinging twice. It was just one of those intuitive decissions we sometimes make. I have bought hundreds of pesos but this is the best I have ever owned. I have bought a few fake 1906s but I have had several people including an engineer look at this coin with a micrcoscope and we all believe that it is as real as it gets. The best price I found to a comparable coin was a grade AU58 that sold on Ebay for about $5600.00

WHOA! I completely forgot that the 06 S was a key date! (and I say I specialize in the series, LOL). In that case, it is probably worth well, well over $100. And probably more than $1,000 too! I HIGHLY recommend having this piece graded/authenticated.

From the new pic, it looks like this piece is probably either a very high EF or a low AU. There's wear on the breast and on the laft point of the shield.

Congratulations on a splendid coin. And my sincere apologies for my temporary brain-fart!

Unfortunately I just read on another forum that this coin is a forgery because of the curved serif on the 1, apparently they should be straight. I am not in any way, shape, or form, an expert in this series. And the person I am quoting could be wrong.

Just want everyone to make an imformed decision before bidding on a coin outside of their expertise. Need to do your research.

I would send the coin in for authentication and grading it would be worth the money. It is a key date and 90% of the 1906 S pesos where melted so it would be worth the money to have it authenticated.
