Picked this up at a show today. My first proof gold $2.5. Mintage 200. I'll get better pics later this week.
I supposed this is another beauty that just walked in . I wonder if I could open a coin shop in my garage .
Nice coin! Proof gold is always fun. Just be on the look out for doctored coins even in top tier TPG plastic, as they are popular targets. I would be a bit more nostalgic and optimistic if I wasn't burned on the first one I bought. PCGS some how over looked the altered surfaces and I purchased based on internet images - a stupid mistake, I know.
Grabs phone at the ready to dial 911 when Frank has the big one! No worries Frank I'm sure someone here will start CPR right Doug?
I see no advantage to cracking that one Matt. I guess if you want it in a clear holder cross it but that 63 is a 63 IMO
Yeah, I thought it was accurately graded. It might take a trip to CAC... But other than that it's gonna stay in that holder.
Unless a whole lot of those scratches, nicks and dings are on the holder to me is is seriously overgraded. If this was a modern piece with all those marks it would be a 61 at best, and quite possibly a details piece.
I agree the coin looks seriously scratched up, but you have to keep in mind this is a very small coin, and those a very large photos. We are seeing scratches 10x their actual size.
