So it looks like the first 2 numerals of the date are missing. I'm not a pro at identifying error coins but I think this might be a weak die error where the first 2 numerals were worn off. Can someone who is knowledge give me their opinion on what type of error this is and how much it is worth?
2015 - 1906 = 109 years have passed since your Dime was minted. I see a faint 1 and 9 in the year but looking at the rest of the coin you can see heavy circulation as the wear and tear is evident. Someone was bored and eliminated the numerals and over time just faded like the rest of the coin. Silver is softer than clad. PMD - Post Mint Damage. Not an error.
If someone "got bored" and filed down the numerals why are there no marks at all? I know it's worn but it's not worn smooth by any means and there are scratches and pits that can be seen on the surface.
