New thread without all the poor photos I posted previously.. Looking for some help grading this coin. Looks almost flawless to the naked eye. I bought it back in 2009 knowing zero about coins other than quick research. I recently bought a digital scale from amazon, arrived on Friday. It weighed in at 4.19 grams, which is proper weight for such a coin from what I've read. Questions... What is your opinion on grade? Worth a send in to PCGS? Not the best photo, and it's flipped even though on my phone it shows upright. the back of the coin is as close to the front as I could imagine in terms of quality.
Really can't tell much based on your pics. The obv obviously has some luster and some contact marks here and there. With the rev pic I can't even say that much. So the coin could be MS, or it could be AU. But that's as much as I can say.
looks pretty mark free to me. if it's not AU (hard to tell) might make a 63. I have some 62 libbys that are more marked up.
A coin can be literally covered with marks and yet still be MS. Marks have nothing to do with the coin being MS or not. By the same token, a coin not have 1 single contact mark on it, and yet be AU. There are only 2 things that can stop a coin from being MS, wear & damage.
that was my point. that's why I said IF it's ms it could be a 63. just can't tell from the pic. and yeah there are many au58 coins that look better at a glance than ms61-62 coins
