I have come across a 1901 liberty head nickel that has a reeded edge. Everything I've read says they should have plain edges, and I've not found any info about errors with reeded edges, but I am new at this. Does anyone know if this may be an error or just a bad counterfiet?
Could be somebody got bored and did it to keep their hands busy. It's highly doubtful that it's a mint error.
It was done outside the Mint and technically is a damaged coin. I've run into Indian Head cents that were also damaged in the same way. Thanks, Bill
