1901 inidian head penny with an interesting mint error?

is this mint made? if so what is its "classification" I guess would be the proper word? thanks in advance. posted additional photo below

Wish I could be constructive but never saw anything like this before. I'll wait for the others to weigh in.

 

The ornamentation on the rim and denticles is from an advertising slogan stamped into a metal ring that once surrounded this coin. In other words, this is an "encased cent", and not a mint error. The doubling is Longacre doubling.

 

Removed from an encasement and what you are seeing on the rim are design elements from the encasement die that overlapped the edge of the coin.
