1901 indian head penny

    I always go through my change at the end of each week and when it was time to sort my change this jumped out at me..

    Cleaned. But nice if it's a circulation find.

    Always fun finding them in the wild! I have only come across two one was black, the other badly damaged! Though that looks cleaned, still nice! :)

    Exactly where I was going. I am sure that there are more Great American Coin Hunt finds waiting to surface..... I almost wish we would do it 2-3 times a year. I had great fun stashing coins for folks to find.

    Yea it was in circulation for a while i think.i rubbed a little grime off and that was probably a no no..here it is when i first found it..

    A cleaned IHC but a nice circulation find.

    No you didn't clean it.
    It was cleaned before you got it. Prob one reason it was released
    into circulation.
    When you clean copper pennies hard, they will get orange or pink.
    They will also be worn and shiny. Which is contradictory.

    It is possible to dip a silver coin and have it come out okay. With copper or bronze, it is a very dicey proposition, and you have to start with a Mint State coin. I would not recommend doing it.
