I have a 1900 P Morgan with a die crack & an unusual wing. I'll post pics of a few of the words, but the crack actually goes around the entire coin. I'm still new to collecting, but the Eagle's wing seems different to me as well. When I compare it to the coins on PCGS, this one has an additional filled in area. Is this a die break or just a common occurrence? I couldn't find my coin listed on the VAM list. The coin is uncirculated in an old fashioned plastic holder, but has never been graded.
Believe it or not Large die cracks on Morgan dollars were fairly common, so they may not get their own VAM designation. Look for other small differences. Looks like the area between the eagles wing and neck may be die gouges.
There are other things going on with it... Ex: the "A" in Dollar is split, there are more of those lines/die gouges around the Eagle's legs, etc. I'm just not sure which oddities are more important compared to another. The front looks fine, except for a tiny mark on the lip.
Looks like you may be able to narrow it down by date position. If you go to the vamworld website the home page has some attribution guides to help figure out things like whether or not it is a near or far date. It can be frustrating and time consuming, but can be rewarding as well. You can also try the Vam update site Here
Thanks... I'll do more research on the date position, but so far I haven't been able to locate mine. Here's a pic of the berries where there are too many.
