This coin originally belonged to my grandfather who was born in 1900. I’m interested in opinions on grade and potential value.

Well, this is a first -- I see no images on your post, but when I click your username, then click on "Messages: 3", it shows me your posts and then your album images. Let me see if I can transplant the images over into the thread here.

    Welcome to CoinTalk!

I'm a little nervous about how the bottom of the ribbon fades away under "W" on the reverse. I haven't looked critically at that many of these, though; it may be a weak strike, or just the lighting in these photos. (Nice, clear photos, by the way, thanks!)

A very nice coin so please protect it. It’s in the low MS range as stated so about $600 retail. There were 1,405,500 minted. Welcome to CT.

    I will go high A/U 58, it’s a good looking
coin however that scratch near the mouth ( Face) I think brings it down a
tad especially being in a prime area of
    focus.

The scratch near the mouth is to be expected for the grades offered so far.

I have allot of Saints and liberties and
there all graded, it’s been my experience
that distractions especially in the field of
    focus ding the grade.

I figure that's why he's saying 62/63 and not higher.

There's almost $600 worth of gold. I would think there would be a little premium over that.

After zooming in a bit more, in addition
to the main scratch you have many minute ones, so I think A/U 58 is the
    correct grade.

There wouldn’t be a premium bump from
a 58 - 61 if it did grade that high.
