19 4 penny either 1914 with the wrong back design or most likely a misprint 1974 penny?

So is it damage or made this way? What do you think? I just started getting into coins so I'm not very educated on coins just yet.

Damaged, not a "misprint" (by which you would mean in incorrectly made die).

It looks to me like a crude attempt to alter a 1974 D to look like a 1914-D.

The reverse will answer your own question.
Since it is a Memorial cent, it can't be a 1914,
as the design started in 1959.
It would take a time machine and quite a few mistakes to mint
    a 1914-D with a Memorial reverse.

    Except impossible considering the reverse.

    The 7 in 1974 took a hit.
    DEFDAM - Definitely Damaged!

    Coins are struck/minted.. Not printed.
    Paper currency is printed.

    I'm sure it's a Memorial Reverse.

Possibly for an album, possibly just for the sake of doing it.

She thought it was an actual 1914 with the Memorial and not Wheat back design.. Which is impossible of course.

No I didn't think it was a 1914 I just wondered what would cause this because I don't have the education on coins that you folks do.

I am sorry if I upset you. It wasn't my intention to offend you if I did. I was trying to explain the question that the other member asked. It's great that you created this post and asked the question. I hope you have a bit more understanding now of what happened to your Cent

    Peace :angelic:

Copper is a relatively soft metal.
Coins take a lot of abuse in their lives. When they get hit by other things, in various places, the raised details can move around.
This was either struck accidentally, or on purpose and it moved/ subtracted the 7
and left what looks like a one.
Sometimes (not you) people will get offended, when that is not the intention.
A member is just being truthful about the situation, and nothing personal is intended.

I didn't take it personal just stating my opinion on it as well. Thank you for yours as well.

No I wasn't offended at all actually, I asked because as I had said before I don't know much about them. Just getting to see how much I enjoy coins therefore I appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
