I got another nickel for my collection. This time one that I've owned in the past but never in uncirculated condition. Can't say this is a favorite design for me. It really isn't, but it is necessary for my growing type set, so here it is. And it joins my shield nickel which I bought last week. Feel free to post any nickel coins you want to share.
Very nice.. I had a heck of a time finding one for my set... I needed one for my 19th century "circulated" type set. I managed to find an AU58 example but I probably paid the price of a 63 to get the 58.
I like the idea of type sets, but I wish the services had a more flexible option where you can build your own custom type set just for yourself. Maybe someone might want to have a type set that's a mix of proof and uncirculated, or circulated too (to have flexibility and get the nicest example within budget). I am doing a type set with PCGS that allows you to add both circulated and uncirculated to 19th century non-gold type set, but it is debatable whether I will ever finish it....not because of the budget, I have the budget....but simply because some do get a little repetitious for subtle differences that I may not care much for. So I'll probably get what I want out of it, and skip what I don't want. I don't feel pressured to complete it just because PCGS says so. It's my collection, not theirs. PS: I like your 1899 too. Very nice coin @mrweaseluv
That's the type of AU58 that looks better than even a 63. It's definitely cool seeing how much better a circulated coin can look than an UNC!
I stopped buying V nickels when the Philly coin shop raised the prices from 20 cents to 25. of course they were all worn flat. I dont think I've ever seen one this nice except for 1883 n/c.
