1899 0 Barber Half shifted right micro o

    I was just at a Wausau coin show and purchased this coin. The mintmark is way right but in further reference it appears to be a micro o variety and punched reversed. Does anyone have any more info on this date ?see photos. Thanks

    Very interesting if that is actually a mintmark, but I'm guessing that happened post-mint.

    Mint Mark appears authentic, I will wait til Monday then maybe send it out to see.

    It's very unlikely to be authentic. Maybe it's related to the gouge and minor scratches or maybe somebody was messing around. It's not listed in The Complete Guide to Barber Halves by David Lawrence nor in Walter Breen's Complete Encyclopedia of US and Colonial Coins

    It's damage - see the similar, but
    not anywhere near as nice or round,
    in the Shield area.

    Looks like an O, but it's a punch, imo
