Got this from my girlfriends mom. Im pretty new to grading, so looking for your opinion. I grade it in AU area?
I won't reiterate the grade. My PCGS book would agree with what you've seen above. Ebay has completed listings for similar coins ranging from $18 - $30 or so. I think it's a darn nice coin. I like the toning.
I usually rely on the hair above the ear, it takes practically nothing to smooth out those details, if the details are there then a ms, then I look at nicks counting down from 70, using this method I am usually on the undergrade side when compared to the tpgs, and personally I would rather undergrade then overgrade.
I'll remember that tip chip. I love Morgans myself, but I struggle with grading them. All mine or AU or worse. I'm literally using a stack of notecards right now to memorize the key points of the major grades on the scale. The hair tip is a good one.
