Hi Guys .I have found purley by accident looking at prices .I saw the 1864L reading that there was the initial inside on the neck of the Indian.100000/1 shot I guess seeing its the only 1 of 2 that I own.I put it under x60 on the digi-microscope and low and behold look what was on the neck ,same place same initial L. I see there are no listings in krause for 1896L.Are there any more of these known and how much would it be worth. Also this has a closed 9 in the date aswell.

Hope its a 1 of few

    sirkipalot,
From the things I have read, the 1864L is a rare variety but after that date,it was put on all Indian Heads. It is the designer,James B. Longacre's initial. The "L" designation is only used for the 1864's since both types were minted that year. That's why it isn't listed in Krause.
