I have a few of these in the same time period, but this one in particular looks untouched and gold. Unless I I forgot what copper looks like, it definitely has a golden color.

    Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forum.
And, there is little possibility of anyone helping without pictures of the piece.
Also, you should weigh the piece to compare to the regular copper coin.
    Good luck.

I have one that was gold plated and made into a piece of jewelry. It's not uncirculated though.

Howdy Marius - Welcome to the Forum !!

There are many things this could be, but we either need pics or a better description. Can you list the legends on both sides for example and describe the design.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I realized pictures would be the first thing asked for. Sadly, I dropped my camera a few weeks ago and the shutter won't open. I am trying to use someone else's camera right now, but I am having some difficulties. I will upload some pictures soon, I just can't guarantee the quality. This camera is kind of a piece of junk...

As I said, the photos are kinda weak, because the camera has no macro setting (at least one I can find). At least they give you an idea of what I mean.

    Marius:
First, always take the coin out of the plastic when you take a picture. The reflection of the holder really effects the quality.
Second, as I mentioned before, get a good scale and weigh it.
If it is legit: The only thing that is possible is that it was struck on a $2 1/2 planchet, so if it is 3.11 grams or less (from wear) then it is simply a gold plated Indian cent.
If it weighs more than 3.11 grams, a $2 1/2 dollar coni weighs in at 4.18 grams (unc) then it is definately worth the extra leg work for certification.
So, now the ball is in your court, possibly go to a jeweler's store and ask them to weigh it in grams, or a local pawn shop may have a scale.
Good luck, but, ....... well, you know, the odds are against you and that it is just plated.

Thanks for the advice, I think I can probably use a lab scale that should be accurate enough...

I realize the odds, but I'd just be happy to know what the heck it is.

I gotta say that based on the pics it looks like an ordinary Indian Head cent to me. Granted it looks like somebody has polished it up with a cloth, but that's about it  Either way, the weight will tell us a lot.
