I got a Gemany silver 5 Mark recently. However, there is some damage on the edge as you can see in the picture. Is it a big damage and how much is the coin worth? Thanks.

By the way, I did some research on my own. The coin is about $50-$200 according to its condition by http://www.coinquest.com. However, becasue of the damage, I am not sure how much is this coin worth.

First off, welcome to CoinTalk qwaszxleo. With a niche coin like that, it's tough to put an accurate value on it, as ultimately it's worth what some buyer will pay for it.

However, the range of $50-200 is accurate and reflects what people are asking for them in today's market. Here's a similiar one on eBay

The seller is asking $150, of course that's a BuyItNow auction. Yours seems to be in better overall shape, the coin on eBay looks cleaned to me. The rim ding may bring down the value somewhat. My guess is that yours could sell for somewhere in the $50-150 range.

Whatever you do, DO NOT clean the coin. The current toning on it is pleasant to the eye and will help your coin retain some value despite the rim ding.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for your kind reply and helpful advice. I am glad to know that the rim ding will not bring down the value largely.
