    Hello everbody,

I am seeking more experienced opinions of the grade of the following nickel. It is an 1894 Liberty Head. I have included two photos of the obverse and one of the reverse. Also are there any problems with the coin (like cleaning) that you can see?

    Obverse 1 Obverse 2

    Reverse

Thanks so much for the opinions everyone!

    I would give it a VG-8.

I would call that coin a vg-10. Liberty in the headband is nearly full, but not quite, the rims are well formed, and not worn too much. I think your coin may have been cleaned up to remove crud, but I certainly wouldn't describe the coin as cleaned, and in my opinion TPG's also would not BB the coin.

    Howdy,

    Yeppers, looks like a VG-10 - almost a F.

You need any 3 letters for a VG, but you need the entire Liberty for a F.

Portrait too worn to be F.

Otherwise, a decent VG with no problems.

Solid VG-10. Need that full liberty for a Fine by ANA standards. Don't know about cleaning on it, if it was it might have been a bit decrudded. But I agree with zaneman that it probably would not be BB.

VG10 if I was carding it.

    Good find!
