1894 Morgan proof or mint state?

I have been offered 1 of 2 coins , both being 1894 Morgans.
    1 is ms62 for 3300 , the other is pr63 for about 3850.
Both look great , but I'm struggling which is the better deal. The proof in numbers is rarer, but mint state 1894 morgans are difficult as well.
I'm just curious what the members would choose themselves if they were offered the same given that both coins are equally attractive.

sorry the seller has the coins, this is just hypothetical as both coins look great for their grades.

The proof does seem to me as more special as there are fewer examples and it's a proof...lol... I'm just indecisive.

Tell him to send them to PCGS for grading. You'll pay the fee. I'll bet he will not be bothered.

PS TOUGH LOVE from your brother :angelic: from another mother. ;) The nature of your question indicates that you might be better off filling Whitman blue books for a while because anyone who buys raw 3K coins deserves to get a good :bigtears::bigtears::bigtears::bigtears: lesson! That's a lot of complete blue books. :D

This thread is ludicrous. Somebody considering raw coins worth over $3000? As an extensive Morgan collector, I find it bizarre that anybody, except for the most irresponsible collector would even consider a raw $3000 coin of this date. I think the whole idea is preposterous.

I think people don’t buy the story. You don’t like posting here, so don’t post. :)

Slabbed or not, most people are reluctant to give a definitive opinion without pictures.

You think 'people' don't buy the story, or @Morgandude11 doesn't buy the story?

Don't speak for others. I for one am interested in which one you ultimately choose. I'd go for the proof.

Pix when the transaction settles and you have it in hand. That should be one beautiful piece.

It is total hogwash. Show the pictures of the coin. Complete nonsense. Guess what? My cousin is going to buy me either a 1913 Liberty Nickel, or a 1804 Silver Dollar? Which one do you think I should get? :) :) :)

:blackeye: DUDE! You only mentioned :facepalm: the grades the coin's were being offered to you by the seller! Looks like you are not :bucktooth: as gullible as you appeared in the OP. Thank your lucky stars for that! YBFAM. :D

PS I'll look forward to reading your next post sometime in the distant future.

I would pick whichever fits your collection better. It's really hard to give you further advice without seeing the coins.

You say that both are "great for their grade" which frankly, I doubt. Morgan's in MS62 are often dogs and TPGS love to grade tougher dates more loosely. Proofs tend to make the marks more obvious so a lower 60s proof is often not great looking either. But, both are high dollar coins.

If it were me, I would go with the proof...but I have always wanted a Morgan proof.
