I've found this cent on eBay, I'm not to sure if it's been cleaned or not. It has a lot of dings, and the red doesn't seem natural for the grade.
My guess is cleaned. Look at how the coin is darker in recesses of the dentils, around the wreaths, and around the lettering on the reverse. This is pretty indicative of cleaning, since it's harder to clean those areas.
Yeah, at first glance it looked ok, but then I saw the dark grime in the date and the legend. Thanks, I'll pass.
Cleaning only makes the imperfections more visible. This is a median grade coin trying to look better (but failing). If the vendor did not clean this coin, s/he would get a fair price ... with the amount of 'pitting' not visible, I'd say DO NOT BID
