Hello all, I know its been a while since I last posted but I have a good question some of you might be able to help me answer. I am helping a friend "value" an 1891 German East Africa 1/4 rupie coin. I wish I had my camera with me so that I could post pictures but I am unable to right now. The coin appears to be about F-VF condition and has no problems. I can't find the value of it anywhere! Even ebay doesn't really have any listings that compare.... If this helps the obverse reads: GUILELMUS II IMPERATOR and the reverse reads: DEUTSCH-OSTAFRIKANISHE GESELLSCHAFT 1/4 RUPIE 1891. Does anybody here know the approximate value of this coin in F-VF condition? I much appreciate your assistance.
The Jaeger catalog lists a price of €45 for that coin in ss/VF. But the one depicted in the auction has some serious flaws on the egde, and where the palm tree is ... Edit - Here are a couple, mostly in better condition than (V)F though: http://www.muenzauktion.com/shops/s...rchstr=Ostafrika+Rupie+1891&sindsvalue=&m=all Christian
