So, here it is (it was discussed in a different thread, but I thought I'd start the pictures here) SGS MS-66 1890 Silver Morgan what's this junk worth??? *sigh* Is it cleaned? this is about as good as I can do with this crappy camera
We will need much better photos than that to get an idea of an accurate grade. Shoot the coin straight on rather than at an angle and try to get good tight shots of the entire coin - obverse and reverse.
cant say for sure if it is a ms 66 but it is a nice coin even if its in a sgs holder. i buy the coins not the holder, so you can get some nice coins if you know alittle bit about coins. i would say your coin was not cleaned. by the picture that i see
I highly doubt from those pictures that your coin was cleaned, your coin looks very nice, and original. Is it MS66? No. Is it MS65? I doubt it. MS63-64 seems about right for the coin. I hope you paid MS63-64 money for the coin, and not MS66. Until you get a feel for grading coins, and how what coins grade what way, I think you better stick with NGC and PCGS, buy some different grading examples of coins, and compare, see what makes a MS65 a MS65 and not a MS62 or MS63. Buy a book on morgan dollars, I know whitman has a redbook just for morgan dollars, it can be found probably at a local coin shop, or on ebay, or amazon for a good price Here it is on wizard coin supply http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/pro...ok-a-guide-book-of-morgan-silver-dollars.html
From these pics I can't tell the grade most likely a MS-62 , But could be a borderline slider AU . About the cleaning if it was it was done well , the luster appears to be all there . rzage
Probably not cleaned (if it was, it was done properly). I would say MS63 but without pictures that aren't blurry, there's no way to be sure.
I agree, it doesn't look like it's been cleaned but, it's definitely not a 66, I would say probably a 62 or 63.
