I have a 1889 CC Morgan Dollar that my father had. What would you consider the value to be? I've had an offer of $1,000. Would it be wise to have it offically graded?

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Greetings, and welcome to the list. As you know grade is everything. http://www.bestcoin.com/us-morgan-dollars-two.htm It looks to be worth the $1K price but there will be some who will say otherwise. I don't think it's worth grading, perhaps authentication, but grading no :)

I would recommend having it graded. Your coin has high vf-xf details IMO, and if it gets graded as such, I think you would get offers ranging from 1500-2k

I would recommend sending it to NCS as well, since it appears to have possible environmental damage, but if not, they will send the coin to NGC for grading. (NCS will apply a grade as well I believe)

I agree with Zane---send it to NCS and have them send it to NGC if they can---

I'd give a XF40 with corrosion. You should send it in to NCS to get in "conserved" then have it graded by NGC.
