    Hello

I recently bought a 1889, 2000 reis that seems to have an extra text engraved. I cannot seem to find anything on this engraving,
it does not seem to be proper english neither, could there be some historic value to this?

Looks like somebody counter stamped it and did a few other things to it. But you can't be sure when they did it. It could have been last year. Therefore, I would doubt it has any value added to it. In fact, many people would probably see it as damage. I know I do.

looks to have been soldered long ago, maybe to a pin? Could "PRESANT FROM FARTHER" mean? "PRESENT FROM FATHER"

Lol, your right. It's so obvious now that I look at it again. An interesting coin though

Seems to me like it was done by someone who spoke português.
I have a friend from Brazil, who later moved to Portugal, who does say 'father' in this way.

A historical note, Brazil was the last nation in the New World to abolish slavery, and Brazil had the most slave importations in the Americas.

1888 was the official abolition of slavery there.

I was also told today that Pedro II was considered a hero to the public and a good leader but was later dethroned, this could very well be connected to the slavery part you mention. If these engravings would be something from that timeperiod i would still have a slight hope on historic value for it. Thanks for your info and reply.
