1888 O Morgan

Please take a look at this 1888 "O" mint mark Morgan dollar. It weighs 26.44 grams. Do you folks think this a legitimate coin?

where did you get it from and how much did you pay for it ?
The lettering looks weird to me .. but I'm not an expert.

edit: my morgans seem to look the same in the lettering.

I see no reason to think otherwise from these images but what is the rim thickness?

 

I found it in an old box of coins my Mom gave to me many years ago. I just recently started going through them.

 

Since I've been tagged, it's hard to evaluate a piece when the picture has been taken on an angle. People who sell counterfeit and altered coins often to that to hide problems.

From this angle the coin appears to be okay, but it's not the best sort of picture to use to pass judgements.

 

the avg weight is 26.7 and some will have fine print but i believe worn strikes will look more like the one you have. so i would suspect its real.

 

I doubt it's a fake. Your coin has a high mintage- over 12,000,000 according to NGC.
