I’m looking for opinions on the 3 cent nickel. The guy has it listed as a 87 for 150. It’s not that bad of a price even in toasted condition. When i loop i see more of a 6 than a 8 but at the right angle (i can’t get a picture of it). I see the full 8. Is there any way to tell from the 7 or anywhere else to identify it at a 87. My gut says pass.

I got excited because I need an 1887 for my three cent book and they are rare as hens teeth... But that one is an 1867.

First sight screamed “pass”. Way too deteriorated. Agree it is 1867.

Follow your gut feeling. 1867, I would pass, sorry. Good luck.

Even if it were an 1887, I would scream PASS!

At $150, I'd say you would be down at least $149.

Too damaged for me but look at your Red Book.
    1867 3,915,000 minted in G-4 it’s $15
    1886 5,001 minted in G-4 it’s $275
    1888 36,501 minted in G-4 it’s $50
My first thought when I saw your photo was an 1867 and after looking at my Red Book I saw the same thing, it’s a 1867 and I’d pass. I’d pass no matter what the date.
