Hey again guys, Clearly just going through several of the photos I've taken recently and have had a few things stand out to me- these two are a 1857 flying Eagle that I'm pretty sure has to be a DDO (I mean, the eagle has bags under its eyes, for cryin' out loud ) but I'm not sure which variety lots happening at both ends of the motto, but not much in the middle; nothing I can see in the date, except maybe in the 5? - and there's either a nick or a lamination error on the reverse through the "E"- thoughts there? The 1886... I'm not sure if it's anything at all- maybe the big six over a little 6? Also would be curious to hear guesses on grades for both. Thoughts? Comments? Recipes? Thanks!!!
there are 4 different type 1-6 over 6 varities. none bring a premium. and i'm not sure you could say it's the big 6 over a little 6. then again, i'm not rick snow. as for your 1857... there are over 11 different doubled die varities. sadly, i don't have rick snow's multiple volume books to tell which one you have. hopefully someone else can chime in as to which variety you have.
Thanks for all the replies guys; I put up a similar post in another forum, and who should chime in but Rick Snow, who attributed the Eagle as S-4. Thanks again!
