I hope these photos do the coin justice, dark in tone but the letters on the shield are so clear , and the fingers of the hand holding the flag. I’m going to go out on a limb and say VF? Look forward to your comments Allan
It has EF sharpness, but I am not sure about the toning. It’s funky, and I would need to see it in person to make a determination.
Coin has far better than VF details. The toning though is very suspect. If you look at enough coinage you will notice that toning is rarely of a uniform color from edge to center, but that is how the obverse appears. I will also add the toning almost appears to float on the surface. almost always a sign of artifical toning. the reverse may look better since the toning is darkest on the edges but it too should bleed from very dark to lighter towards the center. Just my opinions. james
This piece is a Proof, which shows all of the design detail. If you compare it with the OP, you will see that most of the design detail is still on the piece.
Very beautiful little coin. I was thinking in the XF category. Hard to tell w/o it being in hand, however. Nice toning BTW.
