Purchased from L&C Coins. Old ANACS slab. Upon further inspection, noted it was a VAM-7! Should I take a chance of having the grade lowered, or hope that by making it a Variety, have its value increased? Best case scenario would be same grade, with VAM, and Cameo. My local coin dealer I use, is a PCGS dealer. I use him, to submit coins. Thanks! PS: in the photo, I write the VAM 7 on it, to remind myself I
I'm pretty sure that neither NGC nor PCGS will attribute the VAM-7. ANACS does attribute all VAM's, but you still run the risk of losing the DMPL because the small white slab was used by the older company, not the current one. Chris
I'd let it alone, that's an accurate grade on it. Just copy this and keep it with the coin or cite to it when you sell the coin if you think it will make a difference. I'd just as soon it lost that VAM gouge on the cheek, I think it's a little distracting.
Yours is one of the nicer ones known, I'm sure, but VAM-7 in and of itself isn't an added-value designation. It's not a particularly uncommon variety.
