Currently PCGS's Price Guide (yes full retail) has the 1884CC GSA Hoard NGC MS-65 at $490. Going with this current price today what do you think the PCGS Price will be on this same coin in 2025 which will be 20 years from now? Any Guesses out there?
I will guess 2000 bucks. Its Carson City, GSA Hoard and morgans always in high demand even if common date, MS-65..........
Nope--I don't think it will be $2000.00. Now if you wanted to make it go that high all you need to do is buy as many of the 1,136,000 (GSA or not) that they minted and then maybe the price will go up. Speedy
Thanks for the feedback. I have you penciled in for $ 490 in 2025. Like I said its just a guess and you never know it could be right on if the coin market takes a big fall in the next few years?
Thanks speedy. I bought this coin and it is magnificent. I bought it at 420 and it has already shot up in price twice in the last 6 months so I stick to my guns and say 2000. 20 years is a long time and althought this is a common date not a ton of NGC GSA Hoards are floating around.
3 more years to wait....GSAs and Morgans and CCs have been hot for 18 months and still the price overall has barely budged. Sometimes resurrecting a dated thread is fascinating.
I didn't start collecting until about 2009, maybe earlier. I saw advertising for a Morgan coins, so I bought a couple. It was a phone call and they told me that I could get a 1882CC, 1883CC, 1884CC as a set called a Western Collection. They were all graded MS65 by NGC. I paid way too much for them, but don't know what they are worth, but I doubt I would sell them, but they are nice.
I think everybody has bought at inflated prices at one time or another. As long as you learned your lesson to be sharper next time, it's money well-spent. And even nice coins that are overpriced can grow on you.
I dunno but "in 2025" it "will be" 3 "years from now"...so in 3 years (2025) or in 20 years (2042)...?
I remember seeing cases filled with GSA CC dollars for sale at $50 each, 5 or more at $45 each. That was the late ‘80s and ‘90s. Oh how times have changed.
Are you sure abou the time period ? Those coins probably cost $400 in 1989. They were cheap in early-1980's and early-1990's.
Well, 2025 less then 3 years away and the 1884CC @MS65 in a GSA is valued at $525 by NGC and $600 by PCGS (no premium in or out of the GSA holder with PCGS). No where near the $2000 forecast. NGC values it at $575 without the GSA holder, not sure I understand that. Good luck.
But you had a bubble in Morgans and Saints in 1988-90. I would think the prices would be alot higher. I have an article that talked about the collapse, I'll see what Morgans they were talking about. Hope I can find it...
