Anyone know the story behind this token? It's so small it makes a dime look big. I've seen a photo of another one and it had a hole in the same location, so it may have been made to wear. My dad had it in a collection of coins he gave me back when I was in my teens.

    Anyone seen one like this?

    Thanks,

@Chris Wow, great info! I looked at eBay and found one that was going for $6. I bid it up to $11 because why have one when you can have two that look just alike, and also I want to corner the market on the token. They have one from the same event, but slightly different, but was sold long ago and I can't find a price, and one from the 1883 Great Northern Exposition for $25 that looks like a bear chewed on it.

@De Orc More cool info! It sounds like this single event did more for electric lighting in buildings and homes than any other event. Yea for electricity! Candle powered laptops just don't do it for me.

There is also a large dollar sized medal that was produced at this event. Someone asked about it a couple years ago ana I spend a few days trying to research the event. A the time I wasn't able to find anything but a few obscure references to the event. I couldn't find out exactly when it was held, it's exact location, or even why it was held. (I even wondered if the medals were made for an exhibition that was planned but never came about.) I was intrigued by it because I was born and raised in Louisville for 30 years and I have never even heard of it. thank you cpm9ball for that link. That is more information than I have ever seen on the expo.

ARGH! I forgot to check my bid on eBay and LOST. It went for $25. I'll have to wait to see if any others come up. That token was my first step to getting rich and I missed it! I'll corner the market on them yet... you mark my words. By this time next year, rich!

Sorry, I can't sleep and I'm crazy. Bad combo at this time of night.

One thing I have learned on this forum is never talk about an active auction that you are bidding on and never brag on this forum about an item you won before you actually have received it in hand !

LOL! Words to live by! I wasn't really upset when I lost this one. I think the one I have is in better shape.

Thanks for the advise; makes perfect sense!
